May 1st, International Workers’ Day, commemorates the historic
struggle of working people throughout the world. It is a holiday that
began in the 1880s in the United States, with the fight for an
eight-hour work day.

For May Day 2011 we must bridge the divisions and bring together all
workers, regardless of national origin, sexuality, language, religion
or race. It is working people that create all the wealth of society
and we must build a May Day that will be a day of all workers’
standing up together, fighting for justice and building a force for
resistance.
