Yo Soy Testigo/I Am a Witness

Yo Soy Testigo/I am A Witness

In partnership with Coalición de Derechos Humanos (Human Rights Coalition) and Migra Patrol/Copwatch, Yo Soy Testigo (I am a Witness) is a 24-hour hotline for people to call when they suspect law enforcement abuses and collaboration between local law enforcement and Border Patrol/ICE. Volunteers with video cameras travel to the scene to document events as they occur. We are building a database of these events that will be made available to the community, and bring national exposure of the issue by posting the videos on the web.

The 24-hour hotline number is 520.261.5890.

Migra Patrol-Copwatch is a volunteer-run monitoring project that uses video and photo to document local law enforcement agencies’ and the Border Patrol’s interactions with the public to ensure that they respect and honor civil and human rights. Migra Patrol-Copwatch was formed as collaboration with Coalición de Derechos Humanos and Pan Left over 12 years ago. We have ramped up our patrols and participation is growing in response to a visible increase in collaboration between local law enforcement and Border Patrol, as well as the use of minor traffic violations by police as a strategy to check immigration status and increase deportations.

Visit the Coalición de Derechos Humanos website and the Migra Patrol/Copwatch website to get involved and for more information on community involvement in defense of immigrant rights.
